open rings are oblique views. Pinks run pale to deep from August to December 1940; the 1942 obliques are pale again.

Target dossiers

Category numbers are the Luftwaffe’s own target codes (GB 10 = airfields). A dossier is a set of sheets: an annotated photograph, a 1:50,000 map extract and often a typed target card.

Photograph positions are NARA’s catalogued frame centres. The place name is NARA’s nearest gazetteer name, not necessarily what the frame shows.

Dossier positions are the coordinates printed on the target sheets (to the nearest minute, about ±1 km), or the station or camp itself where the sheet could not be read.

Compiled October 2026 from the NARA catalogue (RG 373, German Flown Aerial Photographs; RG 242, Target Dossiers Pertaining to the British Isles). Frames catalogued under other counties are not included.
